Excitement continues to build for Oasis fans, as Liam Gallagher has confirmed that Richard Ashcroft and Cast will be supporting the band for their highly anticipated 2025 reunion shows. Speculation had been rife among fans about who would share the stage with the Manchester legends, and Gallagher’s announcement has put those rumors to rest.
On October 4th, Liam took to X (formerly Twitter) to break the news in his own inimitable style. He posted: “Just spoke to the CHEF here it is OASIS RICHARD ASHCROFT CAST you are welcome see you nxt year I’m of to to identify as a massive cunt LG x” Oasis fans knows that “the CHEF” is Noel Gallagher, who was famously nicknamed like this during the band’s heyday.
Liam followed up with another post saying, “Cast the 1 n only Richard Ashcroft and us shit cunts that’s worth 98 grands worth of any bumblebees not so hard earned cash,” and “Only kidding we never set sail without the 1 and only RICARDO he’s our boy from day DOT come aboard Rkid.” In true Liam fashion, the posts were filled with humor, but they carried the serious news that Richard Ashcroft and Cast will indeed be opening for Oasis next year.
The connection between Oasis and Ashcroft goes back decades. Oasis supported Ashcroft’s former band, The Verve, in 1993 during their early years. Their bond has only grown stronger, with Ashcroft even inspiring the Oasis classic Cast No Shadow. The friendship was further cemented when The Verve supported Oasis during their massive shows at London’s Earls Court in 1997. More recently, Liam and Ashcroft collaborated on the 2022 single C’mon People (We’re Making It Now), and Ashcroft also joined Liam as a special guest at his Finsbury Park headline show in 2018.
Liam’s confirmation of Cast is also a nod to Britpop history. Cast were one of the major forces in the Britpop movement alongside Oasis and Blur, and their presence on the 2025 tour will be a nostalgic reminder of those defining days in the ‘90s. Cast even shared the stage with Oasis at their legendary Knebworth Park shows in 1996, so their inclusion for next year feels like a fitting reunion of Britpop royalty.
Fans have long hoped for a lineup that could capture the spirit of those iconic moments, and with Richard Ashcroft and Cast now on board, 2025 is shaping up to be nothing short of epic. As Liam said in a previous post, having Ashcroft support Oasis would be “BIBLICAL,” and we couldn’t agree more.
