The Oasis reunion is one of the most talked-about comebacks in British music, but Paul Weller won’t be in the crowd. Despite being a close friend of Noel Gallagher, Weller has made it clear he won’t attend the shows, simply because he’s not a fan of massive stadium gigs.
According to him, big shows lose the immediacy of live music — the connection gets lost when you’re watching the band on screens instead of right in front of you. It’s a valid point, one many music lovers understand.
Still, there’s an interesting twist: Weller himself played Wembley Stadium two years ago, opening for Blur on their second night. So while he may not enjoy being in the audience at a big show, he clearly doesn’t mind being on stage for one.
In the end, Weller admits the Oasis comeback is “a cultural moment” — just not his kind of night out. For some artists, the real magic still lives in small clubs, close stages, and a crowd that’s right there with you.
