After 16 years of silence and bitter rows, Noel and Liam Gallagher are back on the same stage. Oasis have just wrapped up the opening leg of their long-awaited comeback tour, closing with three triumphant nights at Dublin’s Croke Park, before heading across the Atlantic for nine shows in the US, Canada, and Mexico.
In a new interview with Talksport, Noel opened up about how it feels to be back together. The guitarist didn’t hide his excitement:
“It’s great just to be back with Bonehead and Liam, and just be doing it again. I guess when it’s all set and done, I’ll sit and reflect on it, but it’s great being back in a band with Liam. I’d forgotten how funny he was.”
One of the most memorable moments of this reunion so far was the image of the Gallagher brothers embracing at the end of the first show — a gesture that moved fans and symbolized a new chapter for the Manchester band.
Liam, the voice reborn
Asked about Liam’s vocals during the shows, Noel couldn’t resist a joke:
“It’s AI,” he quipped, before adding: “Liam’s smashing it, I’m proud of him. Having been fronting a band for 16 years, I know how hard that is. I couldn’t do the stadium thing like he does it, it’s not in my nature, but I’ve got to say, good for you, mate. It’s been amazing.”
Words of respect few would have expected to hear, especially given the brothers’ turbulent history.
A dreamlike reception
Noel also admitted to being stunned by the reaction from fans:
“Yeah, completely blown away. Everyone is. It’s difficult to put it into words actually… Every night is the crowd’s first night, so every night’s got that same energy to it. But it’s been truly amazing.”
Looking back at their comeback debut in Cardiff last month, he recalled:
“For me personally, I grossly underestimated what I was getting into. After about five minutes, I was like, alright, can I just go back to the dressing room and start this again? … my legs turned to jelly after about half-way through the second song.”
Eyes on Argentina
Looking ahead, Noel revealed which date he is most excited about:
“The Argentinians are without doubt in the top five places for us to play in the world,” he said, referring to their upcoming show at Estadio Mas Monumental in Buenos Aires, home of River Plate.
A reunion full of meaning
The comeback has been rich with symbolism. During one of the Dublin concerts, the Gallagher brothers dedicated “Stand By Me” to their mother Peggy, who was in the crowd — a touching moment that resonated deeply with fans.
After years of tension and endless speculation, the Gallagher brothers seem to have found a new balance on stage. With the UK and Ireland leg already hailed as a triumph, their North and South American shows are shaping up to be even more unforgettable.
