This Oasis teaser may be one of the simplest — but also one of the most evocative.
Rather than hiding another reference in a series of clues, Oasis appear to have gone back to one of the most recognisable images from their early history: Liam Gallagher at Slane Castle in 1995, photographed by Jill Furmanovsky.
And this time, it is not simply Liam’s pose that has been recreated.
Looking closely at the new image, the distinctive landscape and the line of trees in the background appear to match Furmanovsky’s original photograph. Liam is once again standing with his arms behind his back, holding the tambourine — recreating the composition of one of the defining images of Oasis’ first era.
Slane Castle, 1995
Slane Castle, in County Meath, Ireland, occupies an important place in Oasis history. The band performed at the legendary venue in 1995, during the period when Definitely Maybe was transforming Oasis from an emerging Manchester band into one of the biggest names in British rock.
It was also a period extensively documented by photographer Jill Furmanovsky, whose photographs captured Oasis at some of the most important moments of their early rise.
The original image of Liam at Slane Castle has become one of those photographs instantly associated with the visual identity of Oasis in the 1990s.
Now, more than 30 years later, Oasis have returned to that image — apparently recreating it in the same surroundings.
1995 and 2026, separated by more than three decades but connected by the same place, the same pose and one very recognisable tambourine.
The teaser may be simple, but the choice of image is anything but random.
