Noel Gallagher was honoured with the Songwriter of the Year award at the 2026 BRIT Awards, held on February 28 at the Co-op Live arena in Manchester. The ceremony marked a historic moment for the event, as it was the first time the BRIT Awards took place outside London.
The Oasis guitarist and chief songwriter took to the stage to collect the prestigious accolade, recognising his outstanding contribution to British songwriting over more than three decades, from the era-defining catalogue of Oasis to his later work with Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.

The award is decided by a panel of industry judges and celebrates exceptional songwriting talent in the UK music scene. Gallagher’s influence has shaped generations of artists and produced some of the most enduring songs in British music history.
The 2026 ceremony, hosted by comedian Jack Whitehall, brought the BRITs to Manchester for the first time, making the evening a particularly fitting occasion to honour one of the city’s most iconic musicians.
