Oasis have released another mysterious teaser — and this time, the clues appear to point very clearly towards Manchester.
The short video features a football-related scene in a typically Mancunian setting, with red brick walls, clothes hanging outside and several details that seem to connect the imagery to Manchester City and Oasis’ history in the city.
One of the most noticeable details is a vintage light-blue Adidas jacket, hanging against the brick wall. Behind it, two shirts can be seen hanging out to dry.
One appears to be an Umbro football shirt, a particularly interesting choice considering Umbro’s strong connection with Manchester City during the 1990s, when the brand was the club’s technical sponsor.
The second shirt appears to be an Oasis tour shirt from 1996, immediately taking us back to one of the most important years in Oasis history — and particularly to their legendary concerts at Maine Road, the former home of Manchester City.
There is also another intriguing detail above the doorway: a moon.
Could this be a reference to “Blue Moon”, the song famously associated with Manchester City?
Individually, these details could simply be nostalgic references to 1990s Manchester. Together, however, they seem much more deliberate.
9 or 12? The mystery of the goals
Then comes perhaps the most intriguing clue.
On the wall, underneath the word “Goals”, we can see a series of tally marks.
At first glance, these could be interpreted as 12, particularly if the diagonal strokes are counted as part of the tally and the final shot in the video — when the boy kicks the ball and apparently scores another goal — is also included.
But there is another possible interpretation.
If the diagonal strokes are simply the conventional way of grouping tally marks — used to make counting easier rather than representing an additional goal — the marks on the wall could instead indicate 9.
That leaves us with two particularly interesting possibilities:
9 goals → 9 dates? or 12 goals → 12 dates?
And both numbers are potentially significant when considered alongside the speculation surrounding a possible Oasis return to Manchester and concerts at the Etihad Stadium, the current home of Manchester City.
The rest of the imagery seems to reinforce the Manchester connection:
Manchester → Manchester City → 1990s → Oasis 1996 → Blue Moon → Goals.
But what exactly is the number hidden in the teaser? 9 or 12?
At this stage, neither interpretation can be confirmed, and Oasis have not officially stated what the tally represents. But if the number is indeed a clue to the number of Manchester shows, this tiny detail could turn out to be very significant.
For now, we’ll have to keep counting. 👀
